Poggio
II, aka the "little mountain horse” as he has been dubbed in the press,
is a 16h 1992 bay WA-bred Thoroughbred gelding (Polynesian Flyer x
Waves Club). He had a
short career on the race track and as a pack horse in the Cascade
Mountains before a friend of Amy's,
Janet Von Pressentin discovered him. In 1998, his first year of eventing, he won his first novice event, moved up to training level, then to preliminary and intermediate, almost always earning
the blue. A win at the Radnor Hunt, PA CCI** showed
what a brilliant competitor he is.
In 1999 Pogi competed for the United States in the Pan American Games in
Canada, finishing on his dressage score
to place fourth individually. His cross-country ride
in less than optimal weather conditions at the 2002 Rolex CCI**** brought him not only the 3rd place ribbon, but also the award
for the “Best Conditioned Horse”. Pogi helped bring the WEG Gold
Medal back to the US for the first time in 28 years in Jerez,
and then earned Amy the Individual Bronze Medal at the 2006 WEG in Aachen.

The
newest addition to Team Tryon’s line-up is Smarty, a 16.3h, 2000
gray 7/8 TB gelding. He was purchased in the winter of 2007 from
Joanne Bridgman of New Zealand. He had a lot of good miles at the
Preliminary level and Amy continues to build the partnership. He
moved up to the Intermediate level in 2008.

Leyland is a 16.2h, 2000 bay
Thoroughbred gelding owned by the Nicholson family of Michigan.
Leyland had a fantastic start in 2006 winning the 1-star at Poplar
Place and moving up to Intermediate at The Fork. He has personality
to spare and Amy really enjoys riding him and bringing him up the
ranks. He is an exceptionally fast learner with all the right
instincts. He is definitely one to watch for.

In Loving Memory of Le Samurai |

Press
Release from Amy (July 2007)
I would like to express my
appreciation to the Tribunal of the FEI
Judicial Committee for its consideration and determination in this
matter. I am prepared to accept the Tribunal's decision for the good of
the sport. I would also like to thank my husband Greg, the Broussard
family, Captain Mark Phillips, Karen O’Connor, and the hundreds of
people that have written letters to me over the last two and a half
months. Your support has helped to get me through this very difficult
time. I also want to reiterate my unequivocal apology to the Tribunal,
the FEI, the USEF, the Broussards, Eventers and horse people
everywhere for the mistake I made during the cross country at the
Lexington Three-Day Event. I misperceived the situation and acted
incorrectly. Had I known that Le Samurai was injured in any way, I would
have pulled up immediately. In the sport of Eventing, the welfare of the
horse must be paramount at all times. I firmly believe in this
principle and to the extent that my actions on April 28, 2007 appeared
inconsistent with it, I again want to express how truly sorry I am. Most
importantly, I want to again express my devastation at having lost
Sparky as a friend and a partner, and how much I miss him.

Sparky was a 16.3h dark bay TB/Holsteiner gelding brought up
through the 3-star level by Robyn Fisher (CA).
He joined Team Tryon
in 2005 and Amy was thrilled to have him in her barn. They began
developing a strong partnership and finished 5th at the Blenheim
3-star (England) in Aug 2006.
