Poggio II - "Pogi"

Poggio II is a 16h 1992 bay WA-bred Thoroughbred gelding (Polynesian Flyer x Waves Club). He had a short career on the race track and as a trail horse horse in the Cascade Mountains before a friend of Amy's, Janet Von Pressentin, discovered him. In 1999, Pogi competed for the United States in the Pan American Games in Canada, and in 2002 his cross-country ride in very wet conditions at the Rolex CCI**** brought him not only the 3rd place ribbon, but also the award for the “Best Conditioned Horse”.

Pogi and Amy have since been named to two Olympic Teams and two World Equestrian Games Teams. They've brought home a Team Gold Medal and an Individual Bronze Medal from the World Games, plus a Team Bronze Medal from the Olympic Games. In 2006, they won the Chronicle of the Horse Eventing Horse of the Year title, Eventing Horseman of the Year title, and the USEA Lady Rider of the Year title.

At the 2009 Rolex Kentucky CCI****, Pogi was officially retired in a touching ceremony. In addition to Amy and Greg, Mark Hart (co-owner) and Allyson Green (long-time groom) were in attendance to celebrate the incredible career of this very special horse.
